Compacta Inkberry is an evergreen cultivar. It is a stoloniferous, slow-growing, compact shrub with a tight, oval to rounded habit. Thick, spineless, dark green leaves fade to olive green in winter. Inconspicuous white spring flowers appear followed by jet black inkberries on female plants.

Homeowner Growning & Maintenance TipsEasily grown in average to wet soils in full sun to part shade. Adaptable but refers rich, constantly moist, acidic soils in full to part sun. Cultivar is a female plant and needs a male pollinator in order to produce the characteristic berry. Prune to shape in early spring just before new growth begins. Needs minimal pruning as a hedge, but may be sheared regularly to form a lower growing hedge.
