Hosta 'Red October'
Red October Hosta
'Red October' grows in an arching mound to 10" tall and spreads over time to as much as 28" wide. It is perhaps best noted for its showy red leaf petioles. 'Red October' has dark green leaves with pointed tips and open bases. Leaves are silvery-white beneath. Leaf petioles are heavily speckled with red which bleeds into the leaf bases. Funnel-shaped lavender flowers in dense racemes appear in late summer on leafy, burgundy scapes rising above the foliage mound to 24" tall.
